If a figure here is wrong, we would rather hear about it than not.

Reporting an error

The most useful report includes three things: the page, the figure you think is wrong, and what you believe it should be. If you have a source — an HMRC page, a pay circular, your own payslip — that makes it much faster to check and fix.

Because every rate lives in a small number of data files that the whole site is generated from, a genuine correction takes minutes to apply and updates every page that uses it.

Figures we already know are uncertain

Before reporting, it is worth checking the methodology page, which lists what we could not confirm. The statutory STPCD 2026, the devolved Agenda for Change scales, and several US states are all known gaps rather than oversights.

If one of those has since been published and we have not caught up, that is exactly the sort of thing worth telling us.

What we cannot help with

We cannot advise on your individual tax position, tell you whether a payslip is correct, or intervene with HMRC or an employer on your behalf. For a payslip query, your payroll department is the right first stop; for a tax code, HMRC.

This guide covers the nine reasons a payslip usually differs from a calculator, and most queries turn out to be one of them.

Suggestions

If there is a calculation you keep having to do by hand, that is worth telling us about too. Several pages on this site exist because the question was being asked and nobody had built the answer.
